WE JUST PAINT
I am a second year fine art student at the University of Leeds, I’m proud to be exhibiting as part of We Just Paint, a group show highlighting our individual practices and shared experiences. My practice is rooted in painting, but this year I’ve also been experimenting with printmaking—especially lino and gel (jelly) printing. For this project, I’m focusing on themes of consumerism, using repetition as both a visual device and a conceptual tool. I’m not interested in critiquing or glorifying consumption, but instead inviting the viewer to reflect: What do I consume too much of? Do I enjoy consuming? I’m drawn to painting still life, finding beauty and meaning in ordinary objects, and using the everyday forms challenge the viewer, and provoke thought.
I like to keep my painting style loose and intuitive, letting the process guide the image rather than over-planning it.
I’m drawn to messy edges, visible brushstrokes, and moments where the paint feels alive on the surface.
